Car Hire from Geneva Airport:    
  Please Note: You are landing in Switzerland and driving from Switzerland into France (don’t panic – it’s not a complicated process. Just one border crossing point where you might be asked to show passports so just have them to hand).

Geneva Airport has both a swiss and French section of the airport. You will arrive on the swiss side and it is important that you also hire a car from the Swiss sector of Geneva Airport and not the French sector. Make sure you specify this when hiring a car as I’ve been caught out by this in the past. That way, you will be given a car with a little sticker on the windscreen which allows you to escape the one-off extra fee at the border crossing when you come back into Switzerland from the French side. You will still be required to pay tolls en-route, but at the usual nominal rates.
